Class 2021 Opening Ceremony for Programme and Project Management Master Programme

On November 6, 2021, the class 2021 online opening ceremony of Programme and Project Management (PPM) Master programme offered by the University of Warwick and Beijing City University (Sino-foreign cooperation programme, officially approved by MoE) was successfully held. This programme was launched in 2013, and this class has been the 7th class so far. David Reynolds, Academic Lead for Mainland China Programmes in Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), Chinese staff from Beijing City University and all freshmen of class 2021 were invited to the ceremony.

In the beginning, staff of BCU and WMG warmly welcomed the freshmen, and introduced the development history of the PPM programme, to help students further understand the programme. Through the introduction, students know that this programme has both solid academic studies and rich practice exercises, plus executive leaders from the global top 500 enterprises as guest lecturers to bring industrial cutting-edge consultation and localization case sharing, which will further help students  combine theory and practice, so as to apply it freely in the workplace.

Then Professor Reynolds, introduced the University of Warwick and basic information of PPM programme, and provided academic guidance for students in the retrieval of foreign language information and thesis writing tutoring. Professor Reynolds has been teaching in Warwick for more than 10 years. He currently undertakes the Strategic Marketing course in this sino-foreign programme and has rich practical experience in industrial and commercial marketing.

Then, BCU invited Mr. Xu Xiaoyuan, the outstanding representative of class 2020, to share his learning experience. As the co-founder of Meitu International Education, he benefited greatly from the PPM programme, so he presented freshmen a speech with the theme of "A Non-outstanding M-A-S-T-E-R Journey". He shared his principles of M(Modest),A(Accountable), S (Strategic), T(Tactic), E(Engaged), R(Rational and Romantic) based on his one-year learning experience, and encouraged everyone to devote themselves to learning with an "empty cup" attitude and become a project management compound talent with innovative spirit and practical ability.

Finally, the freshmen had an ice-breaking activity, introduced themselves and shared their work experience with each other. Through online communication, those students from different regions and professions had enhanced emotional connection and been closer to each other. They believe that they could cooperate well, help each other and make progress together in their future learning.

After the opening ceremony, the freshmen of class 2021 will usher in a colorful learning journey. We hope they can enjoy the first-class academic atmosphere, cutting-edge business consultation, close team cooperation, further enhance leadership and strategic thinking, and grow into global talents with cross-cultural management ability!
