On September 22–23, the 2025 Conference of China’s Arts and Crafts Masters was held in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, with over 300 representatives from across the country in attendance. Beijing City University (BCU) was honored with the title of “2024 National Outstanding Base Institution for Chinese Arts and Crafts.”

This recognition affirms BCU’s significant achievements in recent years in cultivating talent for the inheritance and innovation of Chinese arts and crafts. Following its selection in 2023 as one of the fourth batch of “National Base Institutions for Inheritance and Innovation by China’s Arts and Crafts Masters,” BCU has once again received national-level acknowledgment, underscoring its comprehensive strength and leadership in arts and crafts education, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) preservation, and talent development.

Since the China National Light Industry Council launched the “100 Masters on Campus” initiative in 2019, BCU has fully leveraged its status as a designated base institution to collaborate with numerous China Arts and Crafts Masters. BCU has continuously advanced curriculum development, workshop-based practice, research projects, and community engagement, gradually establishing a distinctive educational model centered on “Inheriting Tradition, Upholding Integrity While Innovating, and Integrating Industry with Education.” This approach has fostered a cohort of faculty and students with solid technical skills and notable teaching-research outcomes.
Building on this honor as a new starting point, BCU will further deepen collaboration and exchange with China’s Arts and Crafts Masters, drive the discipline of arts and crafts toward higher-quality development, and contribute more actively to the inheritance and innovative advancement of China’s arts and crafts heritage.
