On June 1st, the appointment ceremony of "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" graduate tutors of Beijing City University was held in Shunyi Campus.
The following masters were appointed as the BCU graduate tutors:
Li Chunke, master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" tooth carving master;
Yin Xiuyun, a master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" lacquer carving master;
Zhong Liansheng, master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" cloisonne master;
Cui Qiming, master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" jade carving master;
Zhao Chunming, master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" silk inlay master;
Bai Qun, the inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage skills and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" gold lacquer inlay master;
Cao Yanhong, master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" palace carpet master;
Jin Xin, master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and a "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" Beijing embroidery master.
Liu Lin, President and Chairman of University Council of BCU, issued letters of appointment to all the masters respectively. Vice President of BCU Hu Liqin attended the ceremony, and Vice President Lian Yuchun presided over the ceremony. Nearly 300 teachers and students from the Arts and Crafts major and the School of Art and Design attended the ceremony.

President Liu said in his speech that the "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" is the crystallization of the outstanding imagination and creativity of our predecessors, and has created a new peak of the traditional Chinese technology. He stressed that it is of important and far-reaching special significance for the masters to join BCU and join the training of arts and crafts talents, and the inheritance of Beijing's traditional skills and culture. He hoped that the students would cherish the opportunity to learn close with the master, not only to learn their exquisite skills, but also to inherit their spirit of craftsmanship. He said that under the guidance and support of the masters, BCU would take the initiative to undertake the mission of inheriting the capital culture and developing the "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" skills.

Bai Qun stated in his speech that "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" culture has gained wide attention from public by adhering to the concept of inheritance and development, characteristic innovation, openness and integration, and learning from all strengths. He encouraged the students to learn from the masters' exquisite skills, profound culture, peaceful state of mind and noble feelings, strive to form the supreme concept of "the unity of nature and man in Taoism", always maintain the human light of truth, goodness and beauty, and be the inheritor of the "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" in the new era. He proposed that the masters should not forget the original intention of inheritance and development, maintain their spotless childlike innocence, adhere to the meticulous ingenuity, be down-to-earth, and forge ahead. Founded in 1984, BCU has always adhered to the purpose of educating talents for the country and the people. It actively serves the development of the Beijing as its own duty, and consciously takes inheriting the capital culture as an important social responsibility. Based on the unique inheritance of the intangible cultural heritage in Beijing, BCU has explored a number of "Beijing Eight Imperial Handcrafts" areas such as Beijing industrial production, Beijing preparation technology in TCM, calligraphy of Beijing school, Beijing rhyme art and developed majors such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Calligraphy Education, Peking Opera Performance, Folk Art Performance, etc.
BCU has been actively innovating talent training mode, combining the traditional teacher-led-student mode with modern higher education teaching format, and forms a set of inheritance and innovation fusion teaching system. The university selects a large number of national art masters, craft masters, and trains students comprehensively in culture inheritance, development, and innovation. It develops students’ excellent traditional Chinese culture ability and ambition, and is cultivating a batch of active young pioneers in the capital and even in the national art world. On this basis, BCU has launched and established a number of social academic exchanges and cooperation platforms to carry forward the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, including Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Skills Association, Beijing Calligraphy Research Association, Beijing Creative Design Association and Beijing Communication Technology Research Association. It has also actively introduced the famous masters, including the general intangible cultural heritage experts from inside and outside Beijing, for the development of culture and education in the capital, and for the promotion of excellent traditional culture, also to lay a solid foundation for education and to cultivate talents.
