On March 27th, a meeting was held between Beijing City University and the University of Guadalajara in Mexico on the preparatory work of the Confucius Institute establishment, chaired by Carlos Iván Moreno Arellano, Provost of the University of Guadalajara. Ye Yingfang, Vice Chair of the University Council of BCU, Héctor Raúl Solís Gadea, Vice President of the University of Guadalajara, and relevant staff of both sides attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the two sides had a deep discussion on the preparatory work for establishing the Confucius Institute, the next five years’ development plan and relevant issues on the World Language Conference to be held in Mexico in the latter half of the year. Based on cooperation, they aim to develop the Confucius Institute of Guadalajara University into an influential one with its own characteristics in Latin America, to further promote the friendly exchanges between China and Mexico.

It is known that BCU has cooperated with the University of Guadalajara for many years in various fields, and the establishment of Confucius Institute of the University of Guadalajara has been approved previously. In next step, the two sides will actively promote the authorization of the China International Chinese Education Foundation to the Confucius Institute.
