Recently, the National Steering Committee for Professional Degree Postgraduate Education has released the assessment results successively. Two master's professional degree programs of Beijing City University (BCU), namely Chinese Materia Medica and Public Administration, have both successfully passed the special qualification assessment and obtained the continued authorization.

The special qualification assessment for degree-conferring programs is a critical evaluation organized and implemented by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council for newly established degree-conferring programs three years after they are granted the degree-conferring accreditation. In October 2025, in accordance with the requirements of relevant documents issued by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, BCU participated in this special qualification assessment with two master's professional degree programs: Chinese Materia Medica and Public Administration. BCU attached great importance to the assessment work, and made overall planning and deployment immediately. The Graduate Department convened special work meetings to arrange the overall requirements and key tasks for the degree program assessment. Each participating unit of the degree programs set up a dedicated working team, systematically sorted out the construction achievements of the degree programs, and conducted in-depth analysis of existing deficiencies. The Graduate Department coordinated with relevant units to repeatedly discuss and refine the assessment materials, and completed the data filling and material submission with high quality.

The successful passing of this special qualification assessment fully reflects the phased achievements made by BCU in degree program development and postgraduate education. For the next step, BCU will adhere to the principle of "promoting construction, reform and strengthening through evaluation", carry out rectification item by item based on the feedback from the expert panel, further improve the long-term mechanism for degree program assessment and quality assurance, steadily advance the high-quality development of discipline construction, and lay a solid foundation for the upcoming next round of periodic qualification assessment.
